Who we are
The Fireplace Company ("we", "us", "our") is a fireplace and stove specialist based in Taunton, Somerset (Unit 1, Venture Way, Priorswood Industrial Estate, Taunton, Somerset TA2 8DG). For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the data controller of the personal information described in this policy.
You can contact us at any time about your data: by email at info@thefireplace-company.co.uk, by phone on 01823 325555, or via our showroom.
What we collect
Enquiry and contact forms. When you contact us through the website — including our contact form and our "enquire about your favourites" form — we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), your message, and the list of products you have asked about. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry.
Favourites. Our favourites feature stores your shortlisted products in your own browser's local storage, on your device only. This information never leaves your device unless you choose to send it to us through the enquiry form.
Analytics. With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, approximate region, device type). Analytics cookies are only set after you accept them via our cookie banner. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Correspondence. If you email or phone us, we keep a record of that correspondence as part of our normal business records.
Our lawful bases
We process enquiry and correspondence data to take steps at your request before entering a contract, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and improving our business. Analytics processing relies on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the cookie settings.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of trusted processors: Resend delivers form emails to our inbox; Google Analytics provides anonymised usage statistics (only with your consent); Vercel hosts this website and keeps standard server logs. We never sell your data and never share it with third parties for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
Enquiry emails and correspondence are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any resulting order, after which they are retained only as part of routine business records. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Favourites data remains on your device until you remove it or clear your browser storage.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above — we respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would always welcome the chance to resolve your concern first.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows the current version.
