Product Overview
There is a particular satisfaction in keeping a fireplace that already belongs to the room. The Eclipse 40R is built for that decision: it slides into a standard 16-inch opening and turns an unused or unloved fireplace into the warmest thing in the house — no chimney work, no flue, nothing to build. Inside, Authentic LCD Flame Technology offers sixteen flame settings, including a Vermiculite effect found only on this model, over logs lit from within. Set the temperature to the degree and the fire holds it. It is the simplest upgrade we know for a tired fireplace.

4-Sided Frame
The full frame, fitted as standard: four sides of gloss black that frame the flame picture and conceal the edges of the opening behind it. For most fireplaces this is the configuration to choose — clean, built-in and finished on every side, with nothing else to buy.

Will the Eclipse 40R fit my existing fireplace opening?
Almost certainly, if it is a standard 16-inch opening — the 40R is proportioned for exactly that, and the gloss-black frame conceals the edges of the opening behind it. If your fireplace is older or non-standard, bring us the measurements, or we will take them at a free home survey.
What sizes does the Onyx Eclipse come in?
Four. This 40R is the portrait model, made for standard 16-inch openings; the 65R is landscape; the 65HLR near-square and taller; the 75R the widest. All four share the same flame technology, controls and app, so you are choosing a shape and scale for your room.
What is the heat output of the Eclipse 40R?
Up to 1.5kW, thermostatically controlled to a set point anywhere up to 35°C — the fire tops up and eases off to hold the room there. The flames run with or without heat, and a fan-only mode circulates air in summer. For a standard living room, 1.5kW is comfortable background warmth.
What is the difference between the 3-sided and 4-sided frame?
Every Eclipse arrives with the full 4-sided gloss-black frame fitted. Remove the lower trim and it becomes a 3-sided configuration, open at the base — the hearth-mounted look. You decide at installation, and changing your mind later is a simple job.
Can I control the fire from my phone?
Yes. The MUS Flame app for iOS and Android covers flames, lighting and heat, with nine MyFlame presets — three of them customisable with your own settings. An illuminated touch panel on the fire and a remote handset come with it too.
Does it need a chimney or flue?
No — the 40R is fully electric. It slides into a standard fireplace opening and plugs into a normal socket; no chimney, flue or gas connection is involved. If the old fireplace needs tidying first, our in-house team can advise at your free home survey.
