Onyx Eclipse 65R Electric Fire

Onyx Eclipse 65R Electric Fire

The Eclipse 65R is the landscape classic of the range: a widescreen inset fire in the proportions living rooms know best. Its tapered firebox slots into a prepared chamber or bespoke wall, the gloss-black frame finishes the edges cleanly, and the flames run with or without heat. Product Overview

Some fires are chosen for a room; the 65R is chosen for how the room is used. Landscape in format, it sits at the heart of a living room the way a widescreen television does — broad, low and easy to live with. Sixteen flame settings run from a quiet ember glow to a full evening blaze, the IlluminOak logs are lit from within, and downlighting in amber or white sets the fuel bed off. Heat is 2kW, thermostatic to the degree, and entirely optional. It is the Eclipse we would show first to anyone replacing an older inset fire.

Onyx Eclipse 65R with 4-sided integrated frame

4-Sided Frame

Fitted as standard, the full 4-sided frame gives the 65R a clean, built-in finish on every side. The gloss-black border conceals the cut edges of a prepared chamber or bespoke wall, so the fire sits flush and intentional from the day it goes in.

  • Visible frame: 687 × 478mm
  • Depth: approx. 272mm
  • Heat output: up to 2kW, thermostatic
  • Tapered firebox for easy slot-in installation
  • Product code: 228-364

The Eclipse Range — Four Sizes

The same flame technology across four distinct formats — from the standard-opening 40R to the widescreen 75R.

Engineered for a Considered Fit

The tapered firebox is what makes the Eclipse straightforward to fit: narrower at the back than the front, it slots into prepared chambers and bespoke walls without persuasion, while the integrated frame conceals every cut edge. A neater fit, first time.

Set the Mood

Add the Mood Lighting System and up to six metres of LED light in thirteen colours extends the fire's glow around shelving, alcoves or the television wall.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes does the Onyx Eclipse come in?

Four: the 40R (portrait, for standard 16-inch openings), this 65R (landscape), the 65HLR (near-square and taller) and the 75R (the widest). Flame technology, controls and app are shared across all four, so the choice is shape and scale. For most living rooms, we would start here.

How is the Eclipse 65R installed?

The 65R has a tapered firebox designed to slot into a prepared chamber or bespoke wall — chimney breasts and media walls both work. The integrated gloss-black frame gives a clean, built-in finish and conceals the edges of the opening. Our in-house team handles the whole installation, from chamber to finish.

What is the heat output of the Eclipse 65R?

Up to 2kW, thermostatically controlled to any set point up to 35°C — the fire holds the temperature rather than running constantly. The flames work with or without heat, and a fan-only mode covers the warmer months. Plenty for a standard to generous living room.

What is the difference between the 3-sided and 4-sided frame?

Every Eclipse is delivered with the full 4-sided gloss-black frame. Removing the lower trim converts it to a 3-sided, hearth-mounted configuration — open at the base, in the manner of a real fire. The conversion is part of the fire's design; the choice happens at installation.

Can I control the fire from my phone?

Yes. The MUS Flame app, for iOS and Android, controls the flames, lighting and heat from your phone, with nine MyFlame presets to save your favourites — three of them fully customisable. A remote and an illuminated touch panel on the fire are included too.

What is the difference between the 65R and 65HLR?

Same width (687mm frame) and the same technology throughout. The 65HLR stands 168mm taller, which takes it near-square and makes it the mantel-friendly option. Choose the 65R for the classic landscape proportion; choose the 65HLR if a mantel shelf is part of the plan.
